English | Hi Bolts. I teach 7th grade English on Dynamite House. This is my 22nd year teaching in KUSD. I have taught 6th and 8th grade, but 7th grade is my jam! My family is the most important part of my life. My husband, Michael, is the head custodian at Grant Elementary. My children are both students here at Lance this year. I spend my nights and weekends supporting and cheering on my kids who play on competitive sports teams. In my classroom, students find success by collaborating in small groups, actively engaging and interacting with fiction and nonfiction text, making real life connections, making mistakes, striving for mastery, and knowing that failure is not an option. I am committed to providing meaningful work that aligns with district standards and helping students learn to love reading and writing, as we journey through this school year together. |

Math | Hello, Everyone! My name is Michelle Biegler. This is my 4th year teaching 7th grade math here at Lance, and I LOVE it!! Before coming to Lance, I taught 6th grade math at Lincoln for 9 years, and 2nd grade at Jefferson for 10 years. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I truly enjoy doing it. I understand that not everyone likes math or feels that they are good at it. However, I know that everyone can learn and grow. My goal is to make math easier for everyone to understand so it makes sense and they realize with the help that I can give them, that they can do it. Hopefully, it will give them a different mindset about it by the end of the year (not necessarily like it, but feel better about it). Outside of school, I love spending time with my family; especially my niece and nephew. I enjoy painting, working on projects around the house, kayaking, and have recently gotten into yoga. Oh, ya, and I am highly distracted by dogs and absolutely love them! I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having a wonderful school year! |

Social Studies | Hi Bolts! I am Mark Lesnik and have been teaching in KUSD for 23 years. I started as a 4th grade teacher at Frank Elementary and then moved to Lance Middle School 18 years ago where I have taught 6th and 7th grade social studies and some science classes as well. I was the basketball coach here starting in 2004 and retired from coaching 3 years ago with 2 straight undefeated seasons. I love to work with students in the classroom and on the basketball court. Building strong relationships and connections with my students is what I believe my biggest strength is. I am here for my students when they are in my classroom, but also if they need me after their time at Lance is done. When I am not teaching you will find me watching my older son play college baseball at Triton or watching my youngest son excel on the basketball court. I might even be out on a lake enjoying a day of fishing on my boat.. |

Science | Hi I’m Mr. LaBarre! I teach 7th grade science, with an emphasis on argumentative writing. My class introduces basic level chemistry and physics, but I’m even more concerned with helping students work through challenges and develop the sort of life skills they need to be successful people. I’m no lecturer, we will learn through guided activities, questioning, reflection, and discussion. I aim to make my class accessible yet challenging, so anyone can succeed if they are willing to put in the effort and anyone can thrive if they are curious enough to explore deeper. I’m a nerdy dad who works two or three other jobs outside of teaching, so you might see me wrenching on a car, capturing photography, or driving a giant BBQ truck around town! |
