I am starting my 25rd year in education. This is my 13th year at Lance. I work with amazing people. I believe all of my kids have great futures ahead of them. BUT just like adults, they sometimes need a little help making good choices. I am here to help them make better choices for themselves.
I spend most of my time outside of school with my two dogs. Bama is a 2 year old Golden Retriever and Joe is a 3 year old Great Dane. On Saturday’s you will find me yelling Roll Tide Roll during the college football season.
When you see me at school events please take a minute to say hello.
My name is Mr. Matczak and this is my first year at Lance Middle School. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, and exploring new cities and countries. I am a Packers and Brewers fan. Before becoming a dean I taught middle school science and math. My family is made up of my wife, five children (19, 18,16, 13, and 8) and my dog Netz.
Hi, Bolts, I am the instructional coach at Lance Middle School with 4 years as the coach and 16 years of teaching experience, passionate about the diverse approaches to reaching solutions in math and its practical relevance in daily life. Family is paramount to me, as I enjoy time with my husband and two children while relishing shrimp and chocolate as my favorite treats. Outside of work, I find joy in traveling, baking, reading, and shopping, with yearly trips to different states with my husband, a past trampoline accident resulting in a broken ankle, and a strong connection to Kenosha, where I’ve lived my whole life except during college at UW-La Crosse. These details paint a colorful picture of who I am beyond my role as an educator.
Hey! I’m Jess Freng, the math intervention teacher at Lance. This is my 9th year at Lance and my 4th year within this role. Before transitioning into intervention, my teaching experience comprised three years instructing 7th-grade math and two years instructing 8th-grade math. Math is everywhere, and I strive to show my students the relationships between their current learning and the future application of these essential skills. My favorite phrase, much to the dismay of my students, is “MATH in the real world!” When not geeking out about math, you’ll find me watching movies or tv shows, engaging in video or board games, reading a book, nurturing my plants, or supporting my 17 nieces’ and nephews’ passions.
Hey there! I’m Milissa Nieman, a passionate reading interventionist at Lance Middle School. I’ve been a part of KUSD since 2003 and joined Lance during the 2021-2022 academic year. I have my master’s degree in teaching and my reading teacher and ESL certifications. I love encouraging my students to do their best and to believe in themselves. I continually tell my students “You Got This!”
Beyond the classroom, I cherish moments with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, and daughter, creating unforgettable memories. Our adventures include road trips (who doesn’t love being packed in a car for hours singing Disney tunes and watching movies), baking Christmas cookies (literally thousands each year), singing (everything can be turned into a song), engaging in game nights, (just don’t ask us to play Spoons or Pictionary), and sharing our enthusiasm for all things Star Wars. Additionally, I find joy in arts and crafts, indulging in historical and dystopian fiction reads, and socializing with friends.
