8th Grade Advancement Promenade

Eighth Grade Students and Families,

We are pleased to announce that we will be celebrating the advancement of our eighth-grade students on Monday, June 9th, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on the plaza outside in front of Mahone. This event is open to all currently enrolled 8th graders. Names will not be read alphabetically, so feel free to come anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 P.M.

The event is organized so that you and your family members can walk around at your leisure and take advantage of the many photo opportunities to reminisce about your time here at Mahone. There is no set path you must travel for the entire event. However, when you and your advancing 8th grader are ready for the big moment of crossing the stage and receiving the certificate, you need to visit the table to the left of the stage for the advancing 8th grader to get their name card. They will hand their card to our waiting staff for their name to be called to walk the stage. In preparation for the event, reference the map that is included below.

Attire

When planning what to wear, remember that our school dress code still applies. Attire for our advancing students has always been defined as dressy school clothes. It is not necessary to purchase a special outfit for this occasion, and most of our students choose simply to wear their best school outfit.

Photographs

Throughout the promenade, there are many opportunities to take photographs documenting their time at Mahone and this occasion. You are more than welcome to take your photographs at any time throughout the promenade. There will also be opportunities for a professional photographer to take your child’s photo. Those photographs will be available for purchase after the event. A link will be provided on the Mahone website and by email to purchase these professional photos.

Entering, Exiting, & Parking

General parking for all guests is at Indian Trail. The entrance and exit for this event will be by using 60th Street into the Indian Trail parking lot. There is a small, designated parking area for handicapped guests and senior citizens in the designated parking area located on our map.

No Pets (large or small) or loud noisemakers, please!

Even though our promenade is on June 9th, it is an expectation that students complete classwork for each course and attend school through the last day, Thursday, June 12, 2024. If there is inclement weather we will be holding the promenade in the building.

We look forward to seeing you on June 9th.
