Sick Guidelines

To help keep our school communities healthy and safe, staff and students who are sick must stay home until they are feeling better. The district reserves the right to send home any staff or students showing signs of illness that are outside their normal baseline, in order to prevent the spread of illness.

Staff and students should remain home if they have or are experiencing:

  • Live lice
  • Vomiting
    • Must stay home for at least 24 hours after the last episode
  • Diarrhea (i.e., three or more unexplained episodes of loose/watery stools in 24 hours)
    • Must Stay home for at least 24 hours after the last episode
  • A fever of 100.4°F or higher (with or without additional symptoms)
    • Must stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication
  • Unexplained or undocumented rash

WI state law (118.15) states that a child may not be excused for more than 10 days in a school year.

Staff who are absent three or more consecutive days must provide a doctor’s note as required in the Employee Handbook.
