Roosevelt Elementary is excited to announce the launch of our School Improvement Plan, a focused effort to ensure we continually grow and provide the best possible learning environment for our students. This plan is not just about addressing challenges—it’s about embracing opportunities to enhance our academic programs, strengthen community engagement, and foster a culture of excellence. Every member of our school community plays a vital role in this journey, and together, we will build on our strengths, learn from our experiences, and move forward with a shared commitment to progress. With a positive mindset, dedication to continuous improvement and intentional reflection on our practice we are determined and confident that we will create even greater opportunities for our students to thrive.
Goal: Student Achievement
By spring 2027, the district will increase the percentage of students scoring meeting or advanced in reading and math by 12%, as measured by state assessments.
Strategy 1: Ensure that all students receive high-quality instruction, grade level content, deep engagement and high expectations through the effective use of data.
- Professional Development on Engagement Strategies: Provide training for teachers on effective engagement techniques to enhance student participation, motivation and learning.
- Implement various educator collaborative structures for the continuous improvement of Tier 1 instruction.
- Content Rounds to identify the level of use of high quality instructional strategies and follow up professional learning.
- Tier 3 Intervention Implementation.
- Utilize formative assessment data to drive instruction.
- Further knowledge and implementation of Professional Learning Communities.
- Participation in KUSD Content Rounds and site-based learning around knowing and valuing students.
- Instructional Coaching Cycles in teacher-preferred content areas.
- Professional development on the science of reading and strategies to implement instructional shifts in the classroom.
Strategy 2: Cultivate a safe, positive learning environment.
- Implement initiatives that promote respect and inclusivity among students.
- Engage students in authentic ways to gather input and feedback regarding their learning experience.
- Professional learning that supports continuous improvement of systems that foster a consistent, organized and respectful learning environment that teachers, assesses and supports social behaviors and expectations.

- Expand family engagement experiences that include genuine parent and teacher collaboration.
- Piloting Parent Square to further engage and collaborate with families.
